The Isle of Khardas is the fictional local in my novels. The island is populated by pirates, thieves, and the worst villains of all — diplomats. I try to visit it daily and keep in touch with my characters. Some days are easier than others, I admit. Time spent writing has been rare lately because of a lot of things going on.
The Isle of Khardas is on the edges of the Kingdom of Cairnnoth. When the novels open, the kingdom is beset with an arrogant, obsessive ruler control by his overbearing and vindictive mother. Only the youngest son remembers the honour of their dead father. With those lessons in mind, he seeks out, and ultimately finds, the dreaded Lion and Lioness of the Seas.
And that’s just the first chapter. Add in a cranky, aged cavalry sargeant, a guild of assassins and thieves, a race of magical folk over the mountains, and a talking sword…
Suffice to say, these characters are near and dear to me and I enjoy their adventures. Book one, “Promises Kept,” is complete and seeking an agent or publisher. Book two, a prologue to “Promises Kept,” is about halway written. And then there are eight more books in various stages of outlining all dealing with Khardas, Cairnnoth, and surrounding lands.
