It’s been storming since about 3AM this morning. I know because it woke me up. I had that moment of “Oh please, don’t let the thunder wake up the Boy!” Luckily, he slept right through it, but the damage was done. I was awake.

It was, in the long run, probably good, since I had to be at the bakery at 6AM. From there, I had an hour to travel across town, prepare a room, and prepare coffee for an employee breakfastt he president puts on each month. Some how, I got done with ten minutes to spare. Now, I’m fighting being AMP’ed up and exhausted. But the dreary day is kind of lightening my mood. And I’m hoping to score a bit of pastry when the breakfast is over. LOL

Pastry makes everything better.

Write about what you eat when you’re alone.  Is it any different from what you eat when you have friends over, or even when you’re eating with your s/o or kids?  Why is that?

Ok, here’s my secret shame… I love sugar and butter. Spread it on bread or a tortilla and I’m a happy camper. I would never serve this to my son nor would I let anyone see me eating this. But, it just tastes soooo good. It’s like eating the absolute best part of the cookie dough — without the worry that your eggs will kill you.

I will go even further to admit, and this shames me, I have eaten them without even bread. Thankfully, that was a long time ago during a very rough period in my life. But, the taste comforted me — sugar and fat made for exceptional friends at one point.

So, there you have it. When I’m alone, I tend to crave that which is so bad for me, it’s not funny. Oh, and I may eat a handful of chocolate chips, but that’s relatively normal!

Ahh, the things no one sees…

I was hot today from having the windows open and cleaning house.  I also had gotten up at 5:30AM this morning on a holiday! A holiday! I decided to try and doze for a bit and slipped into a cool, clean, over-sized t-shirt.

The smell of clean cotton, to cool, soft fabric against my skin… It all lulled me into a relaxed enough state to doze on the bed for a bit.

There is nothing like the feel of a cool, clean t-shirt for making everything ok.

End of the month mean Hell to me. It’s the ti9me where we rush around like fools to get all the billing that can be billed done and out the door. It makes me crazy and this month we’re down a person. I needed a small break, so I thought I’d post here.

Did not get any writing or, really, much of anything done last night. I need to hit things hard toady, including the marketing, the house, and picking my first publisher to submit to (most likely DAW) and get the packet ready for printing this weekend. I just wish I had energy in the evenings — and without caffeine, life is hard. Hard.

What is it about those last forty-five minutes that drag sooo much? Why am I completely unable to concentrate? I just want to get home and get started on all of the things that need doing around the house. Blugh.

We’re having company this weekend and I’m thrilled. Still not sure exactly when they are coming in, but I’m beyond excited. They are a wonderful couple with a son who plays nicely with Wee Child — in fact, their son is Wee Child’s BFF. It’s pretty darned cute.

So, there is company cleaning to get done, end of the month craziness at work, and a shortened work week. YAY for holidays! My only goal for the weekend is to get my submission to DAW books out. That will involve a quick trip to Kinko’s to have them print up my manuscript, and then a run to the post office to send it out. I’ve put out four submission queries — got rejected on one. That was last week. I’m a bit behind in getting everything else submitted because we were out of town last weekend. But, I’ll hit it hard this week. At least one this week in between cleaning chores.

I am also on deck to hear back from the Kentucky Foundation for Women about a weekend at Hopscotch House. I am desperate for a time alone to do nothing but write. They will be mailing out the letters on Wednesday — I should know Thursday. My stomach feel ill every time I think about it, though. But, I’m keeping my figners crossed and my hopes up.

And now, I need to tidy my desk and get myself perked up and ready to head home.

I belong to a wonderful forum and we’ve decided to do weekly questions. Here’s this week’s:

What’s the farthest you have traveled for food?  Did you fly across the country just so you could have the perfect bowl of clam chowder?  Did you cross the state line just for a scoop of ice cream?  What was it, how far did you travel, and was it worth it?

The furthest I traveled was from St. Louis to between Culpeper and Charlottesville, Virginia. I wanted Barbeque and needed to see my folks, so I made a pilgrimage to the Pig ‘N’ Steak restaurant. It is one of my all time, if not the most, favourite restaurants. I enjoyed a basket of fried dill pickles, a HUGE portion of pulled pork with their special BBQ sauce, and fries. I am sighing just thinking about it. All in all, the seven hour drive was worth it.

Ever have a day where all the news you got was bad. Yeah, I’m living it. No more caffeine and no more alcohol (not much a drinker, but I do love a cold beer in the summer). I’m totally cold turkey, especially on the low-carb Monster energy drinks that I love every morning.

Just a bit bummed. At least they didn’t take sugar or sex away…. Yet.

I got called out today about not having blogged in forever. And, well, it is embarrassing that I haven’t. Oh, and for the record, it was a kindly “calling out” when I was whining about being bored. LOL

I’d like to say there were a lot of amazing changes… Really, the only changes are me getting off my butt and submitting stories and queries.

Ok, tonight, I can’t sit still. I’m exhausted to the point that I’m jittery. I’m even considering DVR’ing Burn Notice and going to bed now. So, no blogging for me. I can’t string thoughts together. Maybe tomorrow…

Major sinus and upper respiratory infection. Yay. Lots of family stuff to do this weekend too. Can’t believe it’s already Sunday afternoon. Am going to nap til five and then get ready for the week.

Every year, about one to two days before Easter, I get a wild hair (pardon the pun). I desire a new, updated look. Inevitably, it means I’m running to the salon with moments to spare. I have my main reason for this (and it’s one I can’t / won’t get into online… Suffice to say, I want to look my best and most trendy this time of year. Happens at Christmas too LOL) and then there’s the sub-reason… It’s a new time of the year. We do spring cleaning, so how about a spring cleaning of my look!

I went browsing on the Interwebs and found a cute style that was just way to short for me but the website referenced a silent movie star at the inspiration. Cool! I was looking for something retro and I love the 1920’s. Cue me looking up Louise Brooks. Google her and be amazed! She’s gorgeous and I loved her hair. So much so, I have the exact same haircut, slightly updated. It’s easy. cute, and just retro enough to be funky.
