The other day, I was bouncing between the admissions desk and the museum store when I saw something leaning against the front glass of the museum. Carefully balanced on a wooden window ledge was a book! I saw a note on it and, upon closer examination, saw the following message:
“I’m NOT LOST! I’m TRAVELING! Look inside my cover to learn how you can help me continue my journey.”
I looked inside and found a sticker for www.bookcrossing.com.
I had found a book someone had “released into the wilds.” I was SO excited! I have always wanted to find one and there, on a grey, gloomy, cold morning, like a little piece of sunshine, was my first “caught” book. I’m already scouting my shelves for new books to register and release! And tomorrow, I’ll be releasing the book I found. I do so with a little pang. I hope it travels and I hope the finder registers it.
If you’re an avid reader, definitely check out www.bookcrossing.com. It’s a great idea and the community of avid book lovers is a great place to relax and unwind.

Great post and once you get going with BookCrossing, you’ll find out how addicting it is! Especially when you “release a book” and someone finds it and are notified by email…it could end up anywhere in the world!

Scott,
Thanks for stopping by! I’ve enjoyed browsing the BookCrossing site and getting to know the people. I’ve been keeping my eyes out for new books all around town. It’s a fantastic community and a delightful adventure.
